Return of the Come Back!   Leave a comment

Last December, a cousin of mine that lives in Australia invited me to join them run a 5k race. He paid for my reg fee. Of course, I said yes. It was free!

As expected, I did poorly. Clocked an official time of 31:05. I felt overweight (even more than I already was). I wanted to go under 30 minutes but my lungs weren’t able to sustain the effort. My muscles felt fine though, which is great.

I was surprised to see a lot of barefoot runners that morning. I think I saw at least 20. Two years ago, I mostly only see one — me. I posted a picture of me running towards the finish line, with a fellow barefoot runner no less, at the bottom.

I think this run pulled me back from my running hiatus. The feeling I got before, during and after the run was incredible. I missed it. I really did.
